EVM ASIA 2023 EXPO NEWS: MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT REVISED EV TARGET TO 1.5 MILLION VEHICLES BY 2040 |

According to Bernama, the Government is targeting to have a total of 1.5 million electric vehicles (EVs) in the country by 2040, a massive increase from its previous projection of 90.000 units. According to YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, the new target comes following a fast-growing shift away from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs on a global level.
The new projection will see an acceleration in the growth of the EV eco-system in particular the number of charging stations.
